ELC24-FCE1: Straighten Up: An Update on Accelerated Tooth Movement

Team: Serge Dibart and Donald Barry Nelson

Course Description: Precision orthodontics and new dimensions in surgically facilitated orthodontics using digital technology: The intersection of Science and Technology.

Piezocision-assisted-orthodontics is used by the orthodontists to revisit old orthodontic concepts and create a paradigm shift through control of a differential anchorage. This presentation will address:

  • Correction of vertical problem with alveolar deficiencies.
  • Transverse issues in the adult patient.
  • Alveolar changes in cases of alveolar insufficiencies (i.e. Posterior Open Bites).
  • Dramatic distalization in challenging Class II cases will be discussed and illustrated using novel treatment algorithms.
  • Navigated Dynamic Piezocision with phenotype modification in association with clear aligners will be illustrated.
  • Integration into a multidisciplinary treatment protocol with space redistribution for more effective restoration treatment will be discussed as well as the possible use of robotic implant surgery
